The job of an organism. It may be a producer, consumer or decomposer. Organisms will try to minimize competition in the habitat, such as where a fish feeds in a pond. Some members of a similar niche will feed deep in the pond while others in the shallows. The time of day will also reduce competition . Some feed in the morning some in the evening or during different times of the year. Thus having the same job but NOT the exact same niche.
